Today is World Kidney Day! It is marked every year in March, which is Kidney Health Month.
This year’s World Kidney Day theme focuses on the importance of preventing kidney attacks or acute kidney injury (AKI). AKI is a sudden decrease in a person’s kidney function, and is commonly due to low blood flow or poor oxygen delivery. Kidney attacks can also be the result of the use of prescription medications and can leave a person at risk for chronic kidney disease. You can read more about this year’s World Kidney Day theme Stop Kidney Attack on the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s website.
In addition to highlighting World Kidney Day today, we are very excited to share with you an article about our race in the upcoming March/April issue of the Running Room Magazine! It’s available online, and will also be hitting stores on March 18 – be sure to pick up your copy and read about the Alive to Strive Race on page 18!
