“I love my gym,” says Diana Aiello, our 2013 Race Ambassador. “For three years now, I’ve been keeping up my workouts five days a week. I feel so energized.”
Rewind to 2013 when Diana received an Alive to Strive fitness grant. With the grant, she consistently hit the gym most weekdays and saw a tremendous positive impact on her fitness and wellbeing. Her hard work led to her being named the 2013 Alive to Strive Race Ambassador.
“Alive to Strive gave me a gift with the fitness grant. With this gift, I am motivated to be active and to benefit fully from it.”
Since the 2013 race, Diana has continued to participate in the Alive to Strive Race each year. Last year, she joined the 5km training group to help her gear up for race day. “Last year, I was able to improve on my race time by 10 minutes. I’m hoping to improve on my time again this year!”
Diana is once again looking forward to starting up with the 5km training group, which is organized by Alive to Strive. “It is very motivating to get outside and run with other people. It’s not easy to start running, so the group support is important.”
Beyond her busy workout schedule, Diana and her 12 year old daughter took their first trip to Toronto last year. In addition to seeing Toronto sites like the CN Tower, Diana and her daughter visited the pandas at the Toronto Zoo Giant Panda Exhibit. “We were there, luckily, when it wasn’t busy, so we could spend some time looking at the pandas. Normally, they keep people moving through the exhibit. Seeing the pandas was pretty neat.”
We’re excited to see Diana once again at the start line of the Alive to Strive Race!
