2011, 212, 48 and 12,000. Those are the numbers I want you to remember.
First, 2011. That was the year Alive to Strive – Kidney Fitness Project was founded — the vision of our founder, Marie-Eve Chainey (if you haven’t’ read her story yet, I encourage you to check it out here).
In the past six years, we’ve awarded 212 active living grants to deserving individuals in the Ottawa community. This past year alone, we’ve given out 48 grants — that’s over $12,000 in total funding ($76,000+ in six years) to assist people with chronic kidney disease to maintain healthy and active lifestyles, and connect with a supportive community.
When you register for our 2017 Alive to Strive Race, we want you to be proud of the contribution you’re making. That’s why 100% of race registration fees go to support our grant program. This project may have been Marie-Eve’s vision, but everyone who has participated in one of our fundraising races has been instrumental in making it come true.
Thank you, all.
Last year’s fundraising race drew more than 1,000 people. We hope you’ll join us for our next event on Sunday, April 30, 2017.
