4 reasons you should register for our Alive to Strive Race on April 29

Alive to Strive 2016

Our 2018 Alive to Strive Race is on Sunday, April 29 at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility in Ottawa, Canada.

Register now for our 1K, 5k or 10k events

There are so many great reasons to participate. Here are a few of our favourites:

  1. We have competitive prices.

A 5K for under $40? A 10K for under $50? We are one of the city’s most affordable races. The sooner you sign-up, the more you save. The next early bird deadline is February 28…

  1. The money raised goes right back into the community.

The Alive to Strive Race is 100% volunteer-led. More than that, 100% of the money raised from race registration fees goes to fund our Active Living Grant Program that benefits people in the local community living with chronic kidney disease. The race also facilitates fundraising efforts for three charities: the Kidney Research Centre, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

  1. We have events for all ages and fitness levels.

The Alive to Strive Race is one of Ottawa’s largest non-profit races. We work hard to ensure that our events are suitable for everyone, of all ages and at all levels of fitness:

  • 10K walk/run
  • 5K walk/run
  • 5K youth walk/run (7-12 years old)
  • 5K Team Challenge
  • 1K, 5K, 10K walk/run for dialysis patients 1K fun walk/run

Participants 6 and under are free.

Are you a competitive runner? The race is chip-timed.

Are you looking for something fun for the family? Bring the children. Strollers are even allowed on the course (we just ask that you hang back and let the runners lead the pack). We also have a 1K event, perfect for families.

  1. You’ll get a free lunch.

It’s a little known fact that we serve lunch. Yes, you read that right. We serve a healthy “kidney-friendly” stew (meat or vegetarian) for participants. Who doesn’t love free food?
